Sensitivity, Creativity, and Artwork

sensitivity

Are you a sensitive person who enjoys art, or possibly an artist? You may be familiar with the ‘burden’ that you experience as a result of your sensitivity. Furthermore, you may recognise the connection between your sensitivity and the art you create. It is not surprising that most artists are sensitive individuals.

“The role of the artist is exactly the same as the role of the lover. If I love you, I have to make you conscious of the things you don’t see.”― James Baldwin

Sensitivity as Superpower

Disclaimer: This post isn’t about the cause of your sensitivity, despite the fact that I am aware that there are several medical cases that may contribute to it. But this article is more about how to deal with and shape your sensitivity in accordance with your ability to write or create art. So as a sensitive person, or perhaps a highly sensitive person, you may be aware that you sense many things under your radar. Things that may seem vague to others will seem so obvious to you. Your receptivity to everything that’s happening beyond your eyes and other senses is higher than that of most people. This can cause you to be overwhelmed and perhaps confused by everything that you catch under your radar.

All of these ‘data’ can be your superpower after you have learned how to manage them. You may need to pay attention to your natural reactions and how you get through the overwhelming state when things come together. By doing so, you will be able to reduce the anxiety that you may feel when you start to feel overwhelmed by this world. Try to invent your personal why or perhaps build a routine that helps you navigate your sensitivity by creating a container to put and manage all of this ‘data’. You may find journaling helpful to the extent that it brings what you’ve been experiencing to your awareness and consciousness.

Source of Your Creativity

By taking the first step, you will find yourself in the centre of a creative container. There are lots of unwritten texts, untold stories, or uncreated arts in your ‘data’. There are a lot of things that you can do with what is going on inside your sensitive container. And, of course, this is a source of creativity. Instead, many of our greatest artists had a level of sensitivity that was beyond normal. Some of them get through their sensitivity by creating great works of art.

Ideas are everywhere. And your sensitivity may help you sense them before any other people. Thus, your sensitivity will help you create the arts and perhaps some of the greatest arts in the future. It all depends on how we want to see ourselves and what happens to us. Life has different meanings for us because of how each of us views it. It’s all based on our perspective, and to view your sensitivity as a way to understand life and people is to view it as a source of your creativity. You can create your own meaning. You can create your own art. You can create your own life based on how you view all of these.

An artist must possess Nature. He must identify himself with her rhythm, by efforts that will prepare the master, which will later enable him to express himself in his own language. Art without genius is just pure decoration.” – Henri Matisse
